To be God’s Eyes and Hands in the World is an Irrevocable Call. 01/08/26. Chima Offurum.

The message of the Christian Gospel is unambiguous about the path that leads us to God: to keep God’s commandments. The Church clarifies that this fidelity is not merely about rules, but about loving our neighbors as ourselves. In a familiar cultural parallel, Toyota’s slogan, “We Make It Easy,” captures something similar to the divine invitation. God simplifies the path to true freedom by showing us that love, service, and compassion are the foundations upon which we can build strong communities and a unified human family. God’s call is accessible to all, leaving no one excluded from the work of goodness.

Through baptism (Luke 4:14-22), the Spirit of the Lord descends upon us and anoints us with a mission: to bring glad tidings to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives, restore sight to the blind, free the oppressed, and announce a year acceptable to the Lord. As we gradually move beyond the Christmas season, this mandate becomes our enduring focus for ministry. God’s call for us to be His eyes, ears, and hands in the world is irrevocable, and by living out this mission, we actively participate in making God’s Kingdom present among us.
