Monday in the Twenty-seventh Week of the Ordinary Time. 10/06/25. Chima Offurum.

We began reading from the Book of the Prophet Jonah today. The Prophet Jonah was the son of Amittai from Gath-hepher. He was a Jew deeply attached to the God of his ancestors, but envy and pride clouded this attachment. 

Jonah could not bear the thought that God might forgive the people of Nineveh if they repented at his preaching, and in resistance, he fled across the sea, only to be brought back by divine providence to fulfill the mission God had entrusted to him. 

In the coming days, we will hear more about Jonah’s mission. Today, we pause a while to reflect on Jonah’s life and ask God for the grace to engage our hearts honestly and constructively, especially in moments of
