In today’s Gospel (Luke 8:16-18), Jesus reminded us that the Christian call is to become a light, for ourselves and others. No one lights a lamp to hide it under a bed. It is lit and placed on a stand to illuminate targeted areas. The challenge is before us as Christians to examine how we radiate God’s love and truth, especially within our families, friends, and daily circles.
And we ask ourselves: Do we guide others to genuine freedom and lasting joy by the authentic witnessing of Christian lives? God has chosen us, like Cyrus of Persia (Ezra 1:1-6), to become a special light in the world. Let us pray for the grace to shine more brightly, not with our own strength, but with the light of Christ that transforms hearts and leads others to Him.
