Thursday in Week Twenty-two of the Ordinary Time. 09/04/25. Chima Offurum.

Part of our calling as disciples of Jesus Christ is to help draw people closer to God. We live out this mission in many ways by offering our time, treasures, and talents daily, and striving to be good to ourselves and others. Like Peter and the other apostles, God has called us to become “fishers of people.” This mission doesn’t always mean leaving our homes or occupations to travel and preach, as some do so faithfully, like the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Instead, when we share the unique gifts God has entrusted us, they can bear fruit in ways just as meaningful as the work of Peter and the apostles. Each act of kindness, each moment of integrity, each choice made in love becomes part of God’s work through us. The Church teaches us today that if we approach our everyday responsibilities with love at the center, our actions, no matter how small, become, as Mother Teresa of Calcutta often said, “something beautiful for God.”
